The Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies (RSCAS) of the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence, Italy, offers the coveted Jean Monnet Postdoctoral Fellowships in Italy. These awards are intended to support postdoctoral researchers who are passionate about studying topics related to European integration and the EU.

Participants in the program frequently have the opportunity to do independent research on their own, make use of the EUI’s intellectual assets, and collaborate with other professionals in their area. Those who are chosen get a stipend to aid with living expenses while they are living in Florence. The fellowships normally last one or two years.

The member states established the European University Institute (EUI) to develop the social sciences from a European vantage point in terms of both culture and science. It is an autonomous entity of the European Union that possesses a legal identity as well as a global centre for postgraduate and postdoctoral teaching and research.

The mission of the centre is to “contribute to research on the major issues facing contemporary European society, including those related to the formation of Europe.” The centre provides a number of important programs.
